MindWarden Device Admin Disclosure

Device Admin is optional in MindWarden. It is used only for Android's force-lock capability and Android's normal uninstall deactivation step.

What Device Admin Allows

When you activate Device Admin, MindWarden can call Android's lock function for:

  • A Phone Lock session you start.
  • A Phone Lock schedule you configure.
  • Automatic Adult Lock after the configured number of eligible adult-domain attempts within the configured time window.

Device Admin also requires deactivation before MindWarden can be uninstalled while it is active. This gives you optional uninstall friction during protected periods.

What MindWarden Cannot Do

MindWarden cannot see, set, reset, retrieve, or transmit your PIN, pattern, or password. It is not enterprise device management, Device Owner, or Profile Owner.

MindWarden cannot make itself impossible to disable or uninstall. You can deactivate Device Admin in Android security settings.

Automatic Adult Lock

Automatic Adult Lock is controlled by settings you choose:

  • The number of eligible blocked attempts allowed.
  • The rolling time window in which attempts count.
  • The Phone Lock duration.

Eligible attempts are successful adult-content blocks caused by an explicit adult-domain blocklist match or an adult top-level-domain rule. Keyword-only adult matches may be blocked but do not trigger Automatic Adult Lock.

Scheduled Phone Lock

Scheduled Phone Lock may also use Android's Alarms & reminders access so a lock can start at the time you selected. Android 13+ notification permission supports the ongoing, user-visible Phone Lock notification.

User Control

If you deactivate Device Admin, automatic screen locking and its uninstall friction stop. Other MindWarden features may continue if their required Android permissions are still enabled.
